Assassinated in 1865 by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre in Washington. The assassination occurred just days after the Civil War ended, shocking the nation.

Shot in 1881 at a train station in Washington, dying about 2 months later. His death led to civil service reform and highlighted the need for presidential succession laws.

  1. William McKinley

Killed by an anarchist in 1901 in Buffalo, New York. His assassination resulted in Theodore Roosevelt becoming president and ushered in the Progressive Era.

  1. John F. Kennedy

Assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas in 1963. His death marked a pivotal moment in US history and led to numerous conspiracy theories.
