Japan Seeks Indonesian Workers to Address Construction Labor Shortage

Japan is currently on the lookout for ways to deal with the labor problem, having requested Indonesian workers for its construction industry, the Japan Association for Construction Human Resources (JAC) is optimistic that both countries will work together in terms of workforce. Due to the increased aging of people in the country, there has been a massive shortage of young generation workers, which has made Japanese authorities look for employees in the neighboring countries.

JAC project head Naoya Shikano pointed out that in the coming years, Indonesian workers will be even more dominant than Vietnamese workers in Japan’s construction sector. The association has come up with special programs to carry out international workforce recruitment; one of these is the SSW visa. Employers of companies in Japan have applauded the Indonesian workers for having strong times and being kind-tempered and cheerful which are important employment aspects.

The socialization efforts incorporate internship opportunities and market working conditions for potential foreign employees. These initiatives are being supported by vocational school representatives, including Gutser Siburian of SMK Tunas Harapan who plan to include Japanese language classes with the intention of students find jobs in Japan.
