“The winter break on the labour market begins in December. As a result, unemployment and underemployment increased in December, as usual for this month” said Andrea Nahles, The Head of the Labour office.

“In addition, the shortage of skilled workers and weakening labour productivity are dampening growth prospects for the German economy” said Martin Mueller, economist.

Andrea Nahles has also pointed out that the job openings for the year 2024 was 654,000 which is 59,000 lesser than a year ago. It is a consequence of the slowing labour demand.

“Looking back, the ongoing economic downtown in 2024 has left increasingly deep marks on the labour market” – Andrea Nahles.
