Explosives Factory blow up kills 12 and injures 5

The footage of the sudden explosion of Turkey’s ZSR explosive factory began to circulate on the local media and it reached the global stage. The video features the broken glasses, scattered metals, and collapsed building/factory. The explosion wiped off the lives of twelve in the village of Kavakli in Balikesir province. The official death toll was announced by the Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and the injured individuals are reported to be not in a serious condition.

“According to initial reports, 12 employees died and four were taken to hospital with injuries as a result of the explosion”, said the Governor of Balikesir, Ismail Ustaoglu.

The given information states that this tragic incident occured on Tuesday, December 24 at 8.25 am, according to the reports of news agency Al-Jazeera in the production area of bullets of various calibres and the officials ensured that there were no one inside during the explosion.

“An explosion occurred at the ZSR explosive production facility. After the explosion the building collapsed. The fire has been taken under control. According to initial findings there is no possibility of sabotage”, reported the Governor.

In 2024 the country witnessed another explosion in November 2024 at Turkish Petroleum Refineries Company in Kocaeli province. But fortunately, it didn’t consume any lives and people escaped with only a few injuries. In 2012, a fatal explosion took place in Turkey at an ammunition depot which is considered to be one of the deadliest tragic incidents of the country and the reports decodes the death of 25 servicemen during this incident.
