The 2026 ‘Decreto Flussi’ Guide: How to Apply for the 40,000 New Seasonal Agriculture Visa Slots

The Italian government has officially launched the Decreto Flussi for 2026, allocating specific quotas to address labor shortages in the primary sector. In this case, 40,075 slots have been specifically reserved to seasonal work in Italy in the fields and farms. This legal framework will enable the non-EU nationals of the country to spend a duration of up to nine months in the country. The process of applications is handled with a system that is called the click-day system and in this system, speed forms an essential factor because thousands of employers post requests at the same time. The workers are required to have registered Italian employer or farmers association offer of employment to qualify, which ensures that all the entries are controlled and give social protection to the migrant workforce.

Key Requirements for the Seasonal Agriculture Visa

To secure a spot under the Decreto Flussi, you must hold a valid passport and lack any previous immigration violations within the Schengen Area. The most important element is the Nulla Osta (work authorization), about which your Italian employer must apply through the portal of the Ministry of the Interior, the ALI. Once this clearance is granted, you can apply for the Seasonal Agriculture Visa at the Italian Consulate in your home country.

Submission Timeline and Procedures

The portal for the Seasonal Agriculture Visa typically opens for pre-filling in late 2025, with the official submission window starting in January 2026. Since quotas are allocated according to region and industry you must ensure your employer files as early as possible. The portal shuts down after 40,000 slots have been taken up. The shortlisted candidates will be issued with a multi entry permit to allow them to come back to their country once the harvest season is over.
