On Friday, the Chinese Embassy released a message of warning to the Chinese citizens who are living in Myanmar against the telecom and online scams due to its larger population which is estimated at 51.3 million according to the census reports stated on Bangkok post. These people are easily trapped with the so-called “high paying overseas job offers”. According to the given information many people have been scammed by such fake offers which causes a threat to the safety of themselves and their properties.
After the receipt of many complaints and assistance from the Chinese officials regarding the scams through online platforms and social media. Many young people are targeted by such luring job offers and these scams are reported to be increasing due to the border regional challenges and they have even emerged as the hub of scams and fraud. The Chinese officials coordinate with the local government of Myanmar to track those scammers and to stop further fall of the victims.
Due to the larger population of Chinese citizens, the growing middle class people seeking for economic stability through high paying job offers are highly targeted as the large pool of potential victims. So, the Embassy has alerted their citizens by increasing awareness.
