Australia’s historic social media ban for youths under 16 shocks the tech companies

Many studies and researches has unveiled the shocking truth that children under the age of 16 who use the social media platforms more than two or three hours are dealing with the depression which twice higher than the normal human. The Global nations and organisations enforce the government of respective countries to take initiatives to reduce the rising crisis among the youths.   

The ruling Australian Labor Party received the support from the opposition Liberal Party of Australia to pass the social media ban law in their Parliament. Based on the reports, the social media ban bill has been sent to the Parliament on Thursday and it is successfully approved on Friday with the considerable support votes from the parties. 

Many Tech companies has raised their voices against the Australia’s social media ban law and they have put on notice too. Meta stated that the law is a “Predetermined Process”.

The law also insist the tech companies to regulate the minimum age bar to above 16 and ban the users under the age of 16. The Australian government climb that the frequent social media usages of children under 16 is leading to depression and it interrupts their mental health. The Social media ban law will come to the effect after the 12 months and the ban will be on the apps including Instagram, snapchat, TikTok, Facebook and X said the Communication Minister of Australia, Michelle Rowland.

The fine which is to be paid by those tech companies under this law is $50 million (Australian dollar) if they haven’t made any changes on the user regulations.
